Testing to LPCB
procedures
The NAMAS
(UKAS)accredited Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) is now
part of the Building Research Establishment (BRE). They not only carry out a
vast range of standard fire resistance and other associated tests, they also
publish a range of industry Codes of Practise and specialist test
procedures.
One of these is the "Wall and Ceiling Lining test" LPS1181, which
evaluates the fire performance of mineral-fibre or foam-filled, steel-faced,
composite panels for use in retail outlets, food processing units etc. LPCB
certification is closely linked to insurance implications in this
field!
