Hydrocarbon fire
testing
Hydrocarbon testing is usually carried out for the oil industry, and
employs a more severe time/temperature relationship than the "normal" fire test.
The furnace temperature may be required to reach some 950oC in under
three minutes.
The British Standard time/temperature relationship will not
achieve this within 60 minutes. We therefore have to design a specimen which can
survive a severe thermal shock. Other than that, the
rules are much the same as for "normal" testing.- know how to design and build
the specimen, and know which specimen to build!
